Abstract

It shows a comparative analysis of two fundamental theories in Latin American intellectual history: dependency theory and the decolonial perspective. Using a theoretical and conceptual approach and a qualitative hermeneutic methodology, the paper examines the main convergences and tensions between these two currents, with the aim of developing a synthetic and reconstructive study that draws on contributions from both frameworks. The study highlights the need for dialogue between the two, based on a common political concern: the need to rethink alternatives to the hegemonic civilizational model imposed by global power centers. This reflection takes on special relevance in the contemporary international context, characterized by multidimensional structural crises.
