Keywords:
Brazil, regional integration, political parties, Mercosur, Partido dos TrabalhadoresAbstract
The article deals with the political preferences of the Partido dos Trabalhadores regarding Mercosur, identifying continuity and change between the years 2003-2010. Specifically, the importance that Mercosur holds for the party is considered, and how it relates with selected aspects of the country’s foreign policy. This work is part of an ongoing investigation developed by the Center of Interdisciplinary Social Studies of the Litoral (CESIL), which aims to improve our understanding of the reasons why ruling political forces/parties that express intense political preferences favorable towards regional integration have only managed to advance in a limited way on a reformulation of Mercosur.
