The purpose of this paper is to identify how political representation in Argentina was approached by political studies in the period 2003-2015. For this, three views on the subject were identified in political studies: the one that underlines the appearance of popular leadership, the one that supports there-emergence of populist forms and leadership, and the one that postulates the validity of party democracy. These three ways of conceptualizing political representation in our country are analyzed and contrasted with each other based on three specific dimensions: a) who they represent, b) through what they represent and c) who they represent. By way of conclusion, the presence of a more autonomous citizenship of the traditional representative entities, different theoretical traditions that respond to this phenomenon and the visualization of different conceptualizations of the same phenomenon that implies a process where there are changes and continuities are highlighted
