The problem of citizenship is now addressed repeatedly by theoretical thought. The different postures with respect to its emergence and consolidation concur to rescue Marshall’s work on citizenship and social class as the classical analysis that stimulated the proliferation of research and resulted in numerous critical responses. In this context, the redesign of the work of this author becomes an obligation as his writings point out a number of ideas that act as triggers for academic debate concerning the theory of citizenship.
