Chaos Theory in Social Sciences

The article inquires into the appeal that a revolutionary theory in the field of physics, the Chaos Theory, may represent for those who investigate phenomena in social studies. The conclusion is that the main advantage of applying this theory in the social sciences is that it helps to explain why quantitative changes of equal magnitude may produce results qualitatively different. In other words, to explain why in a portion of the analyzed reality the response to similar changes may not be uniform. Basically, he argues that the Chaos Theory offers the possibility to explain the abrupt changes and discontinuities that have taken place along history.
