The Chilean Case Pre and Post Transition; Politics in Economic Restructuring

Abstract

Covering the political, economic, institutional and socio-cultural aspects, the author evaluates the behavior of the main actors of the Chilean political system since the military dictatorship of General Pinochet was established. He highlights the peculiarities of the Chilean case —and the gap with the rest of Latin America— to make a comprehensive analysis of the achievements and debts of the democratic transition in Chile.
