The national defense in Argentina is submerged in a crisis that seems to have no end. This article explores one of the least analyzed dimensions of that crisis: the stagnation of the academic debate on defense issues. The article draws attention to the importance of investigating new lines of research that transcend the terms of the current debate. In this way, it proposes an alternative research agenda, not exhaustive, centered on three themes: a) the “politics of disinterest”, or of those factors that discourage political interest in defense; b) the identification of variables that may contribute to the reconstruc[1]tion of the political interest in defense; c) the analysis of the factors to be considered for the definition of a military strategy for Argentina.
