Abstract

The present work will be structured in three moments. At first, we will present the conceptualization that another contemporary author concerned with freedom of republican roots, J. G. A. Pocock, has regarding Spinoza. That exhibition will make us refer to a second moment in which we will present the political-intellectual scene in which Spinoza’s thought was constituted, marked mainly by the republican government of Johan de Witt and the works of Pieter de la Court. Finally, we will see how Spinoza relates to this scene, highlighting points of connection of his thought with it.
