Lights and Shadows of the Debate on Unemployment

Abstract

In a context of rising unemployment, the article attempts to shed light on the debate about the causes and possible solutions to the problem of unemployment in the early and mid 90’s.
First, it explains the phenomenon of unemployment based on a broader framework: the conversion of Argentina’s economy. Second, it attempts to clarify what it means to talk about labor flexibility as a solution to the problem. Finally, it ends by providing conclusions on possible further action.
